2010 Girls Youth Lacrosse Season
For Girls in Grades 2-8
REGISTRATION OPENS NOVEMBER 23, 2009
The goal of the Wilton Lacrosse Association is to foster passion for the sport of Lacrosse in Wilton’s Youth. The Association strives to create a nurturing and positive environment where children can learn the sport and excel based upon their skill level and commitment to pursuing higher levels of play if interested.
Lax Max Skill Clinics- for 2nd Grade Girls FEE: $100
Girls Lacrosse Skills Clinic & Introduction to Girls Lacrosse
Sundays from 2-4pm
1st hour skills and drills, 2nd hour mini-lacrosse games
Girls learn the fundamentals of girls’ lacrosse and have fun.
No prior experience is necessary. Girls’ regulation lacrosse stick, protective eye goggles and mouth guard are required.
INTRAMURAL PROGRAM: FEE: $175
3rd, 4TH, 5TH & 6TH Grade Girls
Intramural Girls Lacrosse is designed to teach the fundamental skills and rules of Girls Lacrosse to beginners and novices of the sport. Games and practices are designed to be fun and to provide equal coaching and playing time for all girls regardless of skill level. Practices will focus on skill development.
No prior experience is necessary.
There will be individual 3rd Grade and 4th Grade Intramural teams.
There will be combined 5 /6th Grade Intramural teams or individual 5th Grade and 6th Grade intramural teams depending on number of registered players.
Weekly Practices: Wednesday’s 5:45- 7:15pm
Weekly Games: Saturdays Mornings – Lilly, North Field or Allen’s Meadows
Team assignments for games will be made weekly so that all players will have an opportunity to play with and against different players each week.
TRAVEL PROGRAM:
The Travel team programs are designed to provide girls in grades 5-8 an opportunity to further develop their skills and level of play by competing against teams from other communities. Practices and games will focus on advanced skills and game strategies. In order to field teams and play at a competitive level, the WLA encourages all travel players to make lacrosse their priority sport in the spring. Please carefully read the Player Commitment Statement and the Player Code of Conduct before registering your child to play at this level. 5th and 6th Grade Travel Program FEE: $285
5th Grade Travel Team(s) TBD* 6:00 -7:30pm
6th Grade Travel Team(s) Mondays & Thursdays
6pm-7:30pm
The number of teams at each Grade 5 and 6 will depend on the number of registered players. If there are enough players for more than one team per grade, then the players will be evaluated during the first 2 weeks of the season to split the players into equal teams.
Games : 1 or 2 /week primarily Saturday or Sunday depending on schedule.
Any weekday game will be scheduled on a practice day whenever possible.
Teams will also participate in a minimum of 2 jamborees.
*Practice days are subject to change pending coaching and field availability.
All 5th and 6th grade Travel team players are encouraged to attend the Wednesday 5/6th Intramural practices and Saturday5/6th Intramural games to enhance skills and have fun.
7th & 8th Grade Travel Program FEE: $285
7th Grade “A” Travel Team Mondays & Thursdays* 6:00 -7:30pm
8th Grade “A” Travel Team TBD 6:00 -7:30pm
Balance 7th & 8th Grade Travel Teams TBD 6:00-7:30pm
The number of teams at the 7th and 8th grade level will depend on the number of registered players. There will be a 7A and 8A team which will require a tryout prior to the season start. All girls are encouraged to tryout, however are not required to do so if they do not wish to play at the “A” level.
Any child making a designated “A” Team must commit entirely to Lacrosse and may not miss any practices or games due to participation in another sport. All absences must be excused in advance with a coach. Unexcused absences will result in loss of spot on the “A” Team and another girl will be offered the chance to come up and play with the “A” Team.

*Practices: There will be a minimum of 2 practices per week and possible 3rd when and if coaches feel the need to call an extra practice and if fields are available. Practice days may be subject to change pending coaching and field availability.
EQUIPMENT:
Players must furnish their own stick, regulation eye goggles, colored mouth guards(2), and cleats. Players without eye goggles and mouth guards will be strictly prohibited from playing. There are no exceptions to this safety rule. No jewelry (including pierced ear studs) is allowed.
All Wilton Lacrosse participants are insured through US Lacrosse and must abide by USWLA Youth Rules of play.
All Intramural and Travel players will receive Wilton Lacrosse shirts to keep at the end of the season. Travel players will also receive team issued uniforms (skirt and jersey) which will require a security deposit which will be returned at the end of the season.
REGISTRATION:
Deadline is January 24, 2009. Any registration received after January 24, 2009 is subject to a $75 late fee and potential wait list. Late Fees are waived for 2nd grade girls however registration must be received by March 1 or player may be subject to wait list.
